Jenis noun phrase yang pertama adalah Determiner + noun

Contoh: the flowers, these flowers, my flowers, some flowers

Jenis-jenis determiner adalah:

  • Articles (the dan a/an) yang digunakan untuk menunjukkan apakah suatu benda itu spesifik atau tidak.
  • Demonstratives (this, these, that, dan those) yang digunakan untuk menunjuk benda berdasarkan jaraknya.
  • Possessives (my, your, his, her, its, their, dan our) yang merupakan kata ganti milik.
  • Quantifiers (some, any, much, many, a little, a few, a lot of, dan lain sebagainya) yang digunakan untuk menjelaskan kuantitas atau jumlah.

Jenis noun phrase yang kedua adalah Determiner (+ modifier) + noun

Modifier dapat berupa:

  • Adjective, contohnya interesting dan beautiful
  • Participle, contohnya used
  • Intensifier, contohnya extremely dan really
  • Noun, contohnya grammar

Contoh:

  • Some extremely interesting, really beautiful used books
  • Some interesting, really beautiful used grammar books

Jenis noun phrase yang ketiga adalah Determiner (+ modifier) + noun (+ modifying phrases and clause)

Modifying phrases dengan prepositional phrase

Modifying phrases dengan participle phrase
Contoh: Some interesting, really beautiful used grammar books printed in London with red covers

Modifying phrases dengan relative clause atau klausa relatif
Contoh: Some interesting, really beautiful used grammar books printed in London with red covers that we study this semester

Lalu setelah kata “red” dilengkapi kata ribbon sebagai kata benda yang berhubungan dengan hairstyle. Kemudian setelah kata “and” dilengkapi kata ponytail karena masih berhubungan dengan hairstyle.
