Supposed to/supposed to be

Sobat Pintar, dalam menggunakan supposed to  selalu diikuti oleh kata kerja pertama (Verb 1). Hal itupun berbeda bila kalian menggunakan supposed to be  selalu diikuti oleh kata sifat (adjective) dan / kata benda (noun).

Must

Kita dapat menggunakan must saat kita ingin menyatakan suatu keharusan yang dikerjakan. Sedangkan, must dapat diikuti langsung oleh Verb 1 atau dengan adjective/noun/adverb setelah must be.

  • You must not put on sandals during the school hours.

Imperative Sentence

Sobat Pintar, di bagian ini kita belajar bersama tentang kalimat perintah yuk.

Biasanya kalimat-kalimat ini dapat kita jumpai di kelas nih, saat guru memberikan instruksi tugas atau lainnya.

Sementara itu, rumus yang digunakan untuk membentuk imperative sentence adalah :

( + ) Positive : Verb + Object / Complement
Contoh :      Do your homework !, Read the book !

( - ) Negative : Do not / Don’t + Verb + Object / Complement
Contoh :      Don't finish your homework !, Don't read the book !

Imperative merupakan verb atau kata kerja yang digunakan untuk memberikan perintah (command).

Imperative Sentence

Sobat, berikut ini ada beberapa aturan untuk menggunakan imperative sentence, diantaranya adalah:

  1. Verb atau kata kerja yang digunakan berupa bare infinitive (kata dasar). Contohnya : Go !
  2. Tidak memerlukan subjek, karena subjek sudah ada secara implisit. Subjek yang diguakan pada imperative adalah ” You ”. jika pronoun `you` digunakan, maka orang yang memerintah menginginkan kekasaran atau kekerasan. contohnya : Close the door ! You, Go on !
  3. Untuk membuat bentuk negative pada imperative perlu ditambahkan do not atau don’t sebelum verb atau kata kerja. Contoh : Do not open the window !
  4. Penambahan Let’s atau Let us perlu dilakukan apabila pembicara atau penulis ikut serta dalam kegiatan tersebut. Contoh : Let`s join the party
  5. Meletakkan ” Do ” di depan Verb atau kata kerja dapat membuat verb menjadi lebih sopan. Contoh : Do your work !
  6. Pada imperative sentence dapat ditambahkan dengan kata “please” atau tolong sehingga kalimat akan berkesan lebih sopan. Contoh : Please clean your room !
